What to do with egg yolks and egg stains…

You know all those egg yolks you shouldn’t eat? Use them to remove coffee and tea stains on fabrics by mixing them with a little warm water.

Egg stains: Egg stains will respond to cold water only, hot water will only set the stain.

Afternoon Apple Snacks

An easy-to-prepare, nutritious snack made with apples, peanut butter, and honey sandwiched between graham crackers.

Ingredients:
2 Red Delicious apples
Lemon juice
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6 whole graham crackers
 

Directions:
Core apples and cut each in half; cut each half into 3 wedges to make a total of 12 wedges. Dip wedges in lemon juice to prevent browning and place in a single layer on microwave-safe plate or baking dish. Cover loosely with waxed paper and microwave on high (100 percent) 3 1/2 to 4 minutes or until apples are tender and hold their shape. (If microwave does not have carousel, rotate dish halfway through cooking.) Drain apples on paper towels.

In small bowl, combine peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon. Snap graham crackers in half to make 12 square crackers. Spread a layer of peanut butter mixture on each of six square crackers; top each with 2 apple wedges. Top with remaining graham cracker squares to sandwich snacks.

People who exercised the most cut their risk of colon cancer in half compared with those who exercised the least, one study found.

Medical experts believe this is so because exercise decreases the time the colon is exposed to agents that may cause cancer.

Study of 500,000 Aims to Determine If ADHD Drugs Pose Possible Heart Risks

FDA and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality are collaborating on the most comprehensive study to date of prescription medicines used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and their potential for increased risk of heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular problems. The study will examine the clinical data of about 500,000 children and adults who have taken ADHD drugs.

Get Milk!

Fat free (or skim) milk — even 1-percent milk but not 2 percent! — is an excellent source of calcium, vitamins, and protein with little or no fat and cholesterol. The same applies to low-fat yogurt.

Soy milk can have just as many nutrients if the company adds them. Read the labels.
