Those 8 Glasses of Water a Day…
The 8-glasses of water per day “rule” may be an urban legend after all says Dartmouth Medical School physician Heinz Valtin, M.D. A review by the American Journal of Physiology reported no supporting evidence to back the popular theory that we need those eight, eight-ounce glasses of water per day.
The following paragraph is of particular interest:
The surveys done of fluid intake on for adults, both men and women strongly suggest that such large amounts of water daily are not necessary.
Dr. Valtin’s conclusion is also supported by published studies showing that beverages such as most coffee, tea and soft drinks, may be counted toward your daily beverage intake total. He also points to the quantity of published experiments that attest to the capability of the human body for maintaining proper water balance.
